Chris and Amy’s wedding was my favorite kind - one that feels exactly like the personalities of the bride and groom. Chris and Amy are very laid-back and cool kids and their wedding day reflected that perfectly. They were married at the Pelican Pub in Pacific City, Oregon under cloudy, rainy skies, but the weather didn’t hamper the celebration a bit. What is that they say about rain being good luck? Chris and Amy are off to a good start.

The day was full of firsts for me…first non-white wedding dress (dark brown, very cool), the first beer toast in the middle of the ceremony (also very cool) and the first portrait session taken in completely drenching downpour (unexpectedly awesome).

The ceremony included a traditional Thai water blessing where each guest walked through offering advice and congratulations to the couple while pouring water over their hands.

This next four images were taken in the pouring rain…we were determined to get at least a few shots on the beach and these guys were troopers. Later on, we even ditched the shoes and jackets and just went for it…

Justin and Amber were married at the Academy Building in Vancouver, an unassuming brick building that has this amazing chapel with cathedral ceilings tucked in the middle of it. The event was a perfect blend of traditional and modern details, and there were many special touches throughout the day (Amber was even married in the same dress that both her mother and grandmother wore on their wedding day). Overall, it was a really fun and energetic affair and it was great to hang out with Amber and Justin’s families for the day.
