David & Acasia | Wedding

David and Acasia had a beautiful outdoor summer wedding in Hood River. The ceremony and reception were both held at the Lake Cliff Bed and Breakfast, overlooking the Columbia River. The whole day was very intimate, and you could tell that David and Acasia had put a lot of energy into creating a truly magical day for their friends and families (One of the highlights of the day was the song that Acasia wrote and performed for David at the beginning of the reception - there wasn’t a dry eye in the house).

These two were so fun to be around - they have one of those connections that is so joyful it becomes contagious. When you see how excited they are simply to be near each other, you can’t help but smile too. And throughout the day, you could see this joy reflected in their friends and family as they talked about them and shared in their celebration.

Thanks to everyone for a great day, it was a pleasure to get to know all of you!

Enjoy the preview…

Chris & Amy | Wedding

acw_guitar5.jpg

Chris and Amy’s wedding was my favorite kind - one that feels exactly like the personalities of the bride and groom. Chris and Amy are very laid-back and cool kids and their wedding day reflected that perfectly. They were married at the Pelican Pub in Pacific City, Oregon under cloudy, rainy skies, but the weather didn’t hamper the celebration a bit. What is that they say about rain being good luck? Chris and Amy are off to a good start.

The day was full of firsts for me…first non-white wedding dress (dark brown, very cool), the first beer toast in the middle of the ceremony (also very cool) and the first portrait session taken in completely drenching downpour (unexpectedly awesome).

You kinda know it’s going to be a good day when this is one of the first frames you shoot:

The ceremony included a traditional Thai water blessing where each guest walked through offering advice and congratulations to the couple while pouring water over their hands.

This next four images were taken in the pouring rain…we were determined to get at least a few shots on the beach and these guys were troopers. Later on, we even ditched the shoes and jackets and just went for it…

Anthony & Melissa | Wedding

This last week I visited California to photograph a family wedding. Sun…palm trees…blue skies! It was a nice break from the cold and rainy spring we are having here in Portland. The day of the ceremony was beautiful (I even got a little sunburnt) and it was great to spend some time with relatives that I don’t get to see very often. Here are a few of my favorite shots:

Annie’s Art and Frame

This week I headed up to Seattle to take some photographs for Annie’s Art and Frame, a great little framing shop in the Ballard District. Annie’s is a family owned business and carries a nice selection of local artists (they also feature a new up and coming artist every month for the Seattle Artwalk). Thier state of the art framing shop is very popular and features an exclusive 40 ft. frame wall with every imaginable color and texture of molding to choose from. In addition to new and vintage poster art, the shop is also filled with a selection of unique and creative gifts…(I may have to go back to do my Christmas shopping!) If you’re in the Seattle area, stop by and check them out at 2212 NW Market St.

The photographs that we took will be part of a new website for the store, so be sure and check back in a couple months for more on that…In the meantime, here are a few of my favorites:

Hans & Jessy

This is my favorite shot from an awesome wedding in Idaho this weekend. More details and images to come soon…

Update (September 12): A couple weeks ago, I photographed the wedding of one of my oldest and dearest friends up in Sandpoint, Idaho. The wedding was held at a private residence overlooking the shores of Lake Pend Orielle and surrounded by views of the Selkirk and Cabinet mountains. It was an eventful day, but after a few comical mishaps, everything turned out beautifully. Hans and Jessy are perfect together and it was a really special day for everyone involved. Here are some of my favorites…

Cana’s Feast Winery

This week I visited Cana’s Feast Winery in Carlton, OR to do some promotional photography for thier new website. Despite blazing hot weather, we were able to get some good shots. A few of my favorites:

Just on the edge of the property is an organic garden that supplies herbs, vegetables and flowers to the restaurant and winery.

The shot below is my favorite of the day. Love the reflection on the wall…
